Most people when looking for a puppy or new companion opt for a specific breed. Myself included of course, ever since I we decided we were going to get a dog we knew 100% it was going to be a Poodle. We started like new adopting parents by searching out breeds and colors online. We were overwhelmed with the amount of online breeders boasting the best possible poodles bred from generation upon generation of show dogs. The worst? Most were available for shipment. This whole process of researching was becoming very discouraging until we found a rescue organization.
Poodle Rescue of Southern California is a volunteer organization dedicated to saving poodles and poodle mixes from homelessness and euthanasia. Since Poodles are very smart and a favorite for their hypoallergenic coat, a mass of backyard breeders with poor conditions and horrible facilities have appeared in an attempt to make money off these mistreated animals. Being sold over the internet and in the paper as "home raised" healthy poodle puppies.
Poodle Rescue So Cal plays a huge part in seeking out rescue and rehabilitation for all dogs (not just poodles) in need of love and care. I highly recommend giving a rescue center a call next time you are looking to make a new life long friend.
